A jeep could be seen driving through the desert, sand blowing up from behind the vehicle. A blackish brown-haired man was at the wheel, black sunglasses covering the bottom portion of his red eyes. He wore a sleeveless, black trenchcoat with a hood with a black sleeveless shirt beneath the coat. He was grinning slyly, he didn't even feel hot with all the black he was wearing. This man was L. An ex-convict that had a bounty on his head. He was just recently pardoned and was instated into the military as a General and head of a special department. However, he knew the public wouldn't want a killer as a general so he changed his name to Near. Now Near was on his way to the city of Lior with some of the subordinates for a mission. The mission? Well it was to kill and slaughter everyone in Lior. It was from the Fuhrer himself, so why not just do it and get it over with?
As Near drived, he turned his head around to talk with the men he came with. "Alright. Kill everyone in Lior. No questions, no doubts. Just shoot everything in sight, don't be afraid. Don't hesitate. Just kill them. Disobey and you'll die along with everyone else. Go AWOL and we'll hunt you down and castrate you and hang you." Near's voice said in a normal tone, but a bit of joy in his voice. Near drived the jeep all the way into the middle of the town, where the fountain of wine was. He stopped and jumped over the vehicle. Near took out a katana and pressed a button on it which turned it into a gun. "Sorry everyone that lives here. But...we have to kill you. Sorry. I'll see some of you in Hell." Near shot a child straight on in the head, as he took out a bomb with his left hand and threw into a nearby building making it explode. All of the sudden, panic and everyone started to run. Near just kept on shooting, and throwing bombs. Pretty much, nearly the square was torn up in flames. Bodies lay everywhere. Now it was time the people of Lior to retaliate.

Hartz sits in the back of the jeep, not saying a word as they drive through the desert. Everything's been happening so fast and it seemed like Hartz would get the adventure he set out to find. But the last thing he'd expect is to become part of the military with the rest of the group.
His attention soon turned to L, or Near as he had changed his name to, as he started to speak. They were to kill all the people in the city. "What the? You can't be serious!" Hartz yelled at Near. "There are innocent people living in that city, and you expect us to just kill them without regret and hesistation?" Hartz was livid, to say the least. He hated to kill, and only did so when extremely necessary.

Near remained quiet until he began his assault. He turned his head towards the monk he had brought along, his face remained grinning and he replied back to his earlier statement, "Yes. Or you die a painful death for disobeying orders from a superior. It'll be a court marshall and you heard how strict the fuhrer is when it comes to traitorous soldiers? You're now a dog to the military, you do what they want you to do. If they ask you to kill your family. Then you'll have to do it. Besides, you have come this far. Do you really want to quit it now?" His eyes were cold and emotionless, he turned his back on Hartz and proceeded to kill the innocent. "However, lies are good too. Deceiving might save you." He showed Hartz his grinning face again and fired a gun at another child in the head.

Hartz glared at Near's back, a hatred forming for the superior. "...No, I don't," Hartz spat out. It was obvious he lied, but he couldn't help it. His human instinct to survive kept him from making the right decision, in his eyes, at least.
Slowly he walked past L, Zodus on his back. 'How can he just keep smiling like that even when killing innocent children...' Hartz thought to himself. 'This all just seems so...wrong.' Hartz knew it was, but he wouldn't say it in front of Near. He had never trusted him, and he doubt he would ever, but he would need to learn how to put up with his actions and words.
Sighing, Hartz looked ahead of him to see a man running towards the group, yelling and rousing up the rest of the cityfolk. Hartz ran over, taking his gun out, disconnecting the main part, and tripped the man. As he tripped, he wrapped the three sections of the gun around his head and twisted. A sickening crack was heard as the man fell down upon the ground, lifeless. "Happy?" Hartz said to L as he prepared himself to kill more people...

"Great! Good going monk boy. Now think of the man's family. Those who saw you break his neck in a very crude way. Think of his crying children yelling, 'Daddy daddy daddy!' While tears are coming out of their eyes and snot coming out of their noses. Think of his wife who cries along with her children and probably scarred for life at such a display. Think of how much they hate you at the moment? Got it in your head? Good? Now stop caring about them and just laugh at them, poor them. Haha. Now start killing monk." Near whispered to Hartz as he started running towards a group of people to kill them. He proceeded to kill four men, three women, and finally six children. All shot in the head or sliced up to bits.
Lior was now ruined, the hot sun beaming down on a broken oasis. Crumblings buildings fell, explosions were all about. It's only been twenty minutes since the assault started. Suddenly fifty men started charging towards Hartz and Near. They had weapons, from a pitchfork to a gun. They much have found it in the basement of the church of Cornello's. Near grinned, "It's me! L! I am the one who killed Father Cornello! And this here is Hartz. Remember us? Now remember our faces when we kill you." He licked his blade and charged forward.

"Don't think for a moment I'll stoop down to your level, L... I may do what you ordered, but that doesn't mean I have to like it," Hartz said with finality. Taking another long sigh, Hartz closed his eyes, using his intensified monkly senses to dodge danger. He would also kill with his eyes closed, not wanting to see himself kill these innocent people. As he stood there, he heard the footsteps of people running, coming after him. He knocked them all out with a swipe of Zodus, and then proceded to kill them with a quick jab of his staff to the temple, heart or other vital part of the body. Hartz regrettably opened his eyes as he saw a group of about 2 and a half score of men stampeding towards himself and Near. '...I'm sorry.' Was his last thought as he readied himself for what would be a massacre...

Musashi sat disgruntled throughout the entire car ride. He could care less about what the military wanted of him, he was a rogue and went his own way. If it wasn't for the direness of the situation, he would have upped and left this group a before they had even gotten into the car. All he wanted to to do was find a blacksmith, as he carried his katana in a small wooden box, the blade split in two separated from the handle. He hadn't heard a word that had come out of L's mouth. He could lie to himself all he wanted and call himself Near, but Musashi really didn't care. Due to this, when they came up to Loir, and L began to shoot and destroy the town, it came as a shock to Musashi.
Hearing Hartz' protest, and L's response, Musashi let out a sigh as he watched Hartz submit and join in on the destruction. Musashi blatantly turned his back on L and Hartz as he walked over to the side and sat down. "You guys do what you want, I won't stop you, interfere, or help them out, but unless they actually threaten my life and force me to use my sword, you can count me out on this one. Standing by not doing anything already goes enough against my code, so just take this as the most compromise you're going to get." He then looked up, his eyes looking straight at L. "And don't throw me any Military bullshit, you know anything about samurai, you'll know I'd rather die for what I stand for then join in simply for safety."

Sora had made his way into Lior, there wasn't any real purpose for him to be there just that he needed somewhere to stay for the moment so he could regain his strength. And because he had heard from an unreliable source that Riku might have been here.
As he passed the gates he heard gunshots and the sound of explosions. [glow=yellow,2,300]"What the....?" [/glow]He summoned his Keyblade and ran to where the commotion was. As he got closer he could hear the screams of people crying out in pain and confusion. When he arrived at the center of the town he saw three people near a jeep. Two of them slaughtering the other in the van. [glow=yellow,2,300]"What do you think your doing? Stop now!"[/glow]

Near turned around to face the newcomer. Leaving Hartz to deal with the coming enemy, Hartz was more than enough for those fools. The General in command walks towards Sora with his gun pointed at Sora while grinning slyly as usual, "Who are you and why? Are you an enemy or are you a friend? I would have to kill you if you answer wrong." He said cooly as he waited for a reply. Near turned his head to the left to see an old lady and old man escorting a group of children into a building. The killer noticed this and threw three bombs at them, it broke through the windows and exploded killing everything in it in flames. "That takes care of another problem." His gaze rested on Sora, wondering what he will do next.

Emerald cat like eyes shot open as an explosion racked the hut he rested in. Chunks of burning wood and clay flew through an open window, setting the fragile furniture ablaze as the ex-SOLDIER slid from the small cot he rested on. The owners' of the house he was staying in ran in a hysteria as the dry air accelerated the speed at which the flames burned. Sephiroth paid no mind to his screaming hosts, and rather took up his Nodachi ad strolled casually from the burning blaze in a daze remembering his past actions. His sadistic nature that had been bottled up since his latest rebirth came rushing forth as his memories of the ShinRa library returned. When the man of the house placed his hands on the Cetra's shoulders begging for help, Sephiroth took the mans head off with a single swing of Masamune. The life flickered back into his eyes when the crimson liquid poured from the man's neck. Mercilessly he slaughtered the rest of the family that had let them use their home, and took to the streets to join in the ensuing chaos.
His cold eyes came upon a group of soldiers not unlike himself, slaughtering the people in the streets. He grinned and kept his place in the center of a ring of fire enveloping the town. People watched as he stood there motionless, only to receive a deadly glare from the man and a swift strike to key points of their body, the swift embrace of death following every one of his blows to the populous. [glow=yellow,2,300]"Stop!!! Why are you doing this! Theyre innocent people!!"[/glow]
Sora clenched his fists and tightly gripped his Keyblade. How could someone do such a heartless thing? Sora raced towards this mysterious murderer in a rage unlike he had ever felt.

Musashi looked at Sora with a blank stare and then grinned. He agreed with what the kid was saying, but as he promised, he wasn't going to get in the way of anything so he let Near do as he wanted. Just then in the corner of his eye he noticed a mysterious looking figure. What mainly caught his attention was the long sword resting in his hand, a nodachi. He slowly pulled the broad sword off his back, spun it over his head with great ease and struck it into the ground. The blade cut into the pavement as if it were cloth, the blade undamaged. He rested his right hand on top of the hilt as he continued to watch the man.
