A Bad Start

"Sometimes you have to. A kid like you wouldn't understand." L said to him grinning. The frightened engineer then suddenly stopped the train which came to a screeching hault. L looked outside to see their was a blockade of soldiers. They were on the mountain trail, and it looks like they couldn't go anywhere. "Shit.." L muttered and turned to Edward, "The enemy. I do not know who it is. It is most likely it is a group and has come from The End of Time. All I know is they want the crystals." L explained. A rang out and the engineer fell down dead. "Damn..I got to go kid." L saluted him and jumped out of the train. He ran towards the edge and jumped. There was nothing but trees below him. Will Edward follow L to seek more answers? Or will he rest his wounds first and get treated then set out to find him. Who knows. L might come seek him out.

"That guy... What could he be planning...?", Edward wonders to himself. Just then, Edward's gun wound begins to throb and Ed starts to feel the sudden drop in adrenaline. "Gah! ...Crap..." Edward exits the train to meet with the soldiers, where Maes Hughes and Roy Mustang were waiting for him. "Oh, jeez... It's Mustang..."

Colonel Mustang steps forward to greet Ed. "Well, Edward, I'm surprised. Normally by now, you'd be stripped of both of your automail limbs and on the ground losing mass amounts of blood. Truthfully, I'm rather disappointed.", Mustang teases.

"Oh, lay off, Mustang!", Edward rebukes.

"Heh. At least your attitude's still intact.", Mustang continues to tease.

"Shut up already!" Edward attempts to bark at Mustang some more, but his loss of blood and stamina causes him to fall to his knees instead, just barely keeping himself conscious. "Damn..."

"Hmm... Hawkeye!"

Lieutenant Riza Hawkeye steps forward and salutes Mustang. "Yes, Colonel?"

"Take with you a convoy of three soldiers and escort Edward Elric back to the Rockbell household in Resembool.", Mustang orders.

"At once, Colonel."

"Colonel Hughes!", Mustang shouts.

Maes Hughes steps forward from the crowd of soldiers and salutes Mustang as well. "Yes, Colonel!"

"Contact Major Armstrong and pursue the Reaping Desperado. After I tie up some loose ends here, I'll join you shortly."

"Yes, sir! Soldiers, move out!", Hughes shouts to the soldiers.

The soldiers all shout in reply, "Sir, yes, sir!!"

Riza Hawkeye kneels down and helps Edward to his feet. "Are you alright, Edward?"

"I'm fine!", Edward barks at the lieutenant. "I don't need your help, alright!?"

"I apologize, but my orders were clear. I am to escort you back to Resembool."

"I said I'm fine!!" Of course, Edward's body disagreed with him, as he had lost consciousness mere moments later.

Hawkeye lets out a short sigh of frustration and carries Edward's limp body to the escort vehicle. "How troublesome..."
