As Squall and the others enter the portal, they will find themselves in a withered plain. Broken statues can be seen nearby as a few beasts wander in the distance. Not too far away, an airship can be seen on the ground. The sky seems to be constantly gray and the sunlight is dull. A horrid beast flies overhead but pays no mind to Squall and the others.
This world was a ruin.
Quistis still has not recovered...her coma is of indefinite duration.

"...This is horrible..." Squall said as he looked around while still carrying Quistis on his back. His glance switched over to an airship that was stationed not too far away.
"..Lets go to that airship...hopefull we see some friendly faces..."

Reno, having backed through thre portal, hadn't taken notice to their new surroundings just yet. Reno didn't know they were in a desolate looking area up until he accidentally bumped into someone's back. Whirling around with his metallic rod raised, Reno calmed down after seeing it was only one of the others he just bumped into by mistake.
"Oops! Sorry, man!" he apologized. Reno raised his eyebrows as he took in their surroundings. "Man! And I thought the desert around the Gold Saucer was desolate!" he exclaimed. Reno then took notice of the beasts passing by. 'Hmm....hopefully none try biting our heads off here!' he thought.
Squall just announced that they were to go towards that strange looking airship. It had to be an airship but it appeared more different than the one Reno had seen back in Gaia. Not arguing or wasting anytime, he gave Squall a brief nod before walking over to this airship. Hopefully, whomever was on it wasn't unfriendly.

Vincent calmly walks through the portal, his arms crossed as e examined the ruins with a cool gaze. He once again thought Squall was making an unecessary risk by approaching a foreign airship, just as he did with the portal.
He rolled his shoulders though, acting like it was a stretch, and followed the others, remaining behind as always.

Balthier exits the ship as the group approaches. He gives a casual wave to them and look at them.
"Good day to you gentlemen, what brings you to this desolate world known as Ivalice?"

Squall saw a man come out of an Airship, he was rather casual. He was too casual really, even in such a ruined world. The man also said "Ivalice", apperantly, they had landed in a completely different world than Gaia. Squall then spoke "..Friend or Foe?"

"If I were a foe, do you really think I would make my presence known in greeting? Perhaps I should ask you the same question." Balthier says unstrapping his bayonet rifle from it's holster and resting the back of it on his shoulder.

"Confident, I like that." Balthier says bemused. He then looks at the sky and releases a shallow sigh.
"This land used to be the jewel of the universe, a beautiful land inhabited by an ingenious people of various races...until a maddened wizard was released into this world by some event that I am not sure of. He quickly absorbed almost all of the world's magic power and in a matter of days destroyed the once vibrant world that this once was."

Reno raised an eyebrow as he looked at this stranger. Holding his silence as he glanced around the area. 'Talk about your fixer-upper!' he thought but hadn't said. He then glanced down at Kail. Shaking his head at the other's comment about him being drained.
The magic didn't drain away from them here. It remained, Kail was just over exaggerating that thought. Although, the kid had gone through two huge battles as they all had. Sephiroth and Kuja weren't as easy as pie. "Not to break the silence or anything but instead of wasting our time here chatting with you can we get a move on?" he said.
"We've been through a great deal here...look at us all! Look at Quistis!....We're WORN out!" he said. Obviously, Reno must've sounded crabby at the moment. Who would blame him though? He had been traveling nonstop with them all and was fed up with pointless chitter chatter. Being tired, who else wouldn't snap?!

Balthier throws a rock at Reno's forehead, the stone landing on top of his red haired cranium not causing a sizable welt on his head while not penetrating the skin.
"Learn some respect good man, as for your weary selves, I will allow all except the red haired one there to make use of my ships facilities to recuperate."
Balthier finally sees Quistis...due to his position, he could not easily see her behind Squall's back and with Kail and Reno in front of Squall obstructing the view, it is little wonder.
"...Bring your girlfriend in here quickly...it looks like she is suffering from Mana Surge." Balthier says noticing Quistis' now faintly glowing blue skin. As the party began to board the ship, a pack of enemies charged the group, drawn to attention by the gathering of humans. Balthier emits a slightly agitated sigh.
"I will handle these." Balthier says as he draws his weapon once again and runs forward to face the enemy head on.

Reno glared at the other when he just pelted a stone at him. He was obviously too tired for such nonsense. However, though this guy said Reno couldn't join them he was already making up special ways he'd get on without being noticed. He didn't need that fool's permission! Reno wasn't a Turk for nothing!
He swore at him as he brought a hand up to his head as he kept his eyes on Balthier. "Do anything like that again and I'll-" he never finished his sentence as something appeared in the distance. Sick of interruptions, he turned to look over at a few monsters coming their way. "Well, isn't THIS just great?!" he said as he readied his metallic rod. Not caring about what Balthier just said to them.
Reno could fight also, he didn't need some guy he didn't know nor trust to do it all for him! (XD!)

"Water..." Balthier says as a magical ball of water appears above Kail and drenches him.
"That's the best I can do...the Strahl is out of water right now. You all come inside now, even you redhead." Balthier says walking into the ship.

Inside the ship, Balthier shows the group to a quarters. Beds attached to the floor could be seen, being of rather high quality considering its an airship sleeping area.
"Here is where you can sleep and rest. You should let your girlfriend rest in there, she won't be waking up any time soon if she has a Mana Surge..." Balthier says plainly as he walks forward to the bridge.

Reno started wondering if he should start calling this guy blondie. However, with Kail being blond also it could get confusing for the other may think Reno was referring to him and end up in a huge monstrous feud. Reno argued but he wasn't up with dealing with quarrels like he had to deal with when Elena wasn't stoned as well as the others.
How many times she got on his case, Reno couldn't remember but he wasn't up for being yapped at for hours on end. Upon entering the airship after the others. Reno looked all around. No wonder, this airship was different inside as well. More luxurious than the one he had once seen in the past. Still looking around, Reno said "Say...nice place ya have here."
The quarrel he had previously with this dude forgotten now.

"The bloke's name is Kefka, and who knows what his purpose is, I think he got beat up when he was young and wants to take it out on the rest of the world...he seems to have a god complex like you would never imagine." Balthier says. He then gets the 'Finally' look on his face as he realizes something.

Reno continued to admire the place. Looking it over before replying "Yes, it definitely does...you and your friend have outdone yourselves on this." Reno then brought his attention towards Squall. Knowing to keep quiet again. He was curious as well.
Who knew?! Maybe the dude that did that was going to come back and give them all trouble about the crystals. Nevertheless, Reno held his tongue as he waited to hear the other man's response.
